Here are the metadata guidelines for Imaging Specialist:

a.     Creator: IODP

b.     Creator Email: publisher@iodp.tamu.edu

c.     Creator website: https://iodp.org/

d.     Description: (up to you if you want to put something here)

e.     Keywords: generic expedition keywords

f.     Photo credit: IODP name, IODP JRSO

g.     Copyright Notice: CC BY 4.0  (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)

h.     Copyright Status: Public Domain

i.     Rights Usage Terms: Free with attribution

j.     On shore, we will add the updated caption to the Description area for the F&F photos only

Click one the images that need the new metadata, click Tools/Replace Metadata Template and pick the one that was just created. In the lower left corner the progress of assigning the metadata to the files is indicated.

1) photographer/credit from metadata template,
2) INTERIOR/EXTERIOR)  SHIP LOCATION (e.g. Core Lab, Chemistry Lab, etc.)
3) SHIP LOCATION ACTIVITY (e.g. Core Lab, Chemistry Lab, etc.)

  • Contributor photo is any photo NOT taken by the Imaging Specialist that is of general interest for Friends and Family or PR use. Photo Credit: Contributor Name & IODP.
  • Photos taken by IODP JRSO employees with IODP camera (if specifically asked them to take photos) - Photo Credit: i.e. Etienne Claassen, IODP JRSO.
  • If you don’t know who the photographer is, then Photo Credit just:  IODP JRSO.
  • Technical images, as MBIO, Close-ups and Thin Sections, among others. As all the photos that are technical in nature and will become part of the technical data. Photo Credit, If any, would simply be: IODP JRSO. Filename will be different.
