Catwalk Weather Wall (Catwalk Wall)
During high latitude cruises the staff may opt to erect a temporary wall to enclose the catwalk and use the heaters on each end. Â
This is the pattern.Â
Supplies Include
10 Sheets 8' x 4' Plywood 1/2"
Clear Acrylic for the windows
Wood for frames
Clear Plastic Sheets for ends of catwalk
Â
374 - 383 Configuration
The same wall was used for awhile. Plastic sheeting with Velcro and zippers was acquired in New Zealand.
As of 385T the windows, frames, and plastic sheets were saved and stored on the ship, probably in the Batcave.
Prior to the next high latitude cruise new plywood needs to be ordered and the other pieces located.
Â
395E- ? Configuration
The same plywood walls and acrylic windows were used for the catwalk wall erected at the start of 395C.
The vinyl doors from the 383 configuration were replaced with heavy duty vinyl sheeting. Each door way has a slightly different designÂ
based on the space and use.  Door 1 was hung and rolled up at the aft end of the catwalk. 3 large identical sheets were prepped for placement along theÂ
aft railing. A door was made for the forward walkway by the paleo lab. This door way uses a magnetic and velcro closing system rather than zippers. A secondÂ
magnetic latch is available for the aft end of the catwalk, port side walk way. See document for images:Â Vinyl Door Plan 395E
