Pmag Check Ups

Pmag Check Ups.

  • Always keep Cryowatch running and visible on multiple screens.

  • Record temperatures for the SRM every week or so (confluence page is open on SRM computer). There are four values:

    • shield and SQUIDs on the 202 control-unit (Tsh and Tsq). Turn of the unit after to conserve He.

    • compressor oil and H2O-in (both from cryowatch).

  • If the SRM computer needs rebooting, there is the startup protocol posted by the SRM computer.

  • If it is necessary to switch to the backup Haskris follow the protocol on the main Haskris. Summary as follows.

    • Turn on backup unit.

    • Turn both black valves on the plumbing circuit 180° (from up to down).

    • Turn off main Haskris unit.

    • Make sure the backup unit has not slightly overflowed during switching (rags as at the backup unit if necessary).

    • To switch back do the above in reverse.

  • Charge all 3 palm pilots towards the end of the tie-up. Cables and palm pilots are in the downhole MOT drawer.

  • Check the sump on the ship chill-water intake. When the sediment reaches the marked line, it should to be emptied. There is a flashlight next to it to make inspection easier.

    • Turn on the bypass and turn off both valves to the sump.

    • Use the strap wrench to unscrew the sump.

    • Dump the sediment and briefly clean the sump.

    • Thread the sump back on until it stops threading.

    • Turn back on both valves to the sump.

    • Turn of the bypass valve.

    • Verify that the sump is not leaking.

    • You deserve a beer. Thank you.
