ET Shop

Repaired handheld Vacuum cleaner. Unit would not switch off, so we opened it and swopped the motor connections to other poles on the switch.

Set up the Wireless Microphone for science crossovers in core description area.

Rigwatch Core Depth Display became inaccurate. Re seated incoming data cables and outgoing network cables from Black box in Iris panel.

Kettle from the Bridge Deck Conference Room ceased to function. Opened up the base. Cleaned and straightened the contacts.

Made a list of all oils, lubricants, sealants, adhesives, paints etc. to be disposed off during transit and while in Demob.

Catwalk

Cleaned and Greased the Press and Vice. Also added oil to the Quick Disconnects and Spray Nozzles.

Warm water fitting under core catcher bench was leaking, so the fittings were replaced due to the threads on the old fitting being worn out.

Laser Engraver

Tripped on Low Flow. Checked the Ventilation system and Sea1 Electricians attended to low suction in system. Once that was sorted out, the sensor limits was reset.

Air flow sensor cleaned numerous times during expedition.

Filters were also cleaned.

WRMSL

P-wave water leak underneath tray. All piping were removed, cleaned and put back in place.

STMSL/Fast Track

Had a problem finding the top of the core sensor. The counts on the display were 120. Re seated the optic Cable on the sensor and the counts went up to 300. Cable was later replaced. Counts went up to 1200.

Manufactured a guard to keep the Fiberoptic Cable secured.

XScan

Unit made intermitted strange sound at start of a scan on some occasions. Removed the panels and secured all the screws in weight support areas. Found a few that were loose.

Repaired the various core retrievers that broke during the expedition.

Splitting Room

Manufactured Vent covers for the Splitting Room.

Isolated the Ventilation for the Splitting Room, for MBIO sampling.

Door going into the sampling area would not open. Found that the Door Open Pad wiring had shorted out. This was repaired.

Changed Supersaw blades a few times.

Rock saw water drains were blocked. Opened up piping and cleaned sediment trap.

Repaired & Cleaned staple gun.

Paleo Lab

Shaker began to function unreliably. Found the power supply connection was loose, and was replaced. Also found damage to the Ribbon Cable between board and display, and repaired that also.

Focsle Deck

Conference Room

Changed the batteries in the clock and repaired damage to the outer case where it had fallen off the wall.

Chem Lab

Aft and middle carver presses had some pressure issues throughout the expedition. They were purged for air bubbles, and leaks inside the jacks were attended to.

One of the Balance Wires broke on the Kahn Microbalance. It was re attached.

Several Headspace brass samplers (borers) were damaged trying to get samples from really hard core. The handles were repaired.

Made an air tight fitting for the sample in the coulometer that would detect a leakage.

Thin Section Lab

The Petro Thin turned itself on. It was powered off. Powered itself on again. It was unplugged. Found the contacts in the Motor ON/OFF Switch had welded themselves together, and switch could not be repaired. Used the spare vacuum switch that is only a 1 pole, so LED cables were disconnected, and just bridged the other incoming AC voltage to work as a single pole switch.

LN2 Gen

Unit ran well.

Underway Lab

Guns were assembled for VSP, disassembled and stored again.

Upper Tween Deck

Landing Area

Defrosted and Cleaned the filters on the -80 Freezers.

Replaced Hydraulic Mechanism for a Pallet Jack.

UTSHOP

Air was leaking from the Regulator Valve on the back of the CNC machine. A new Air Regulator was ordered. Regulator was received during the Port Call. This was installed on the CNC Machine. Air Pressure was Calibrated so the Sensors in the machine work correctly. If the air pressure is too low the ATC arm won’t move. If it is too high the Hall Effect Sensors wont trigger. Arm moves by too quickly. 100 PSI seems to work the best.

Calibrated the 3D Printer Heads.

Movie Room

Calibrated the Audio for the Stereo System.

Base Speaker has no sound. Found a broken wire on the speaker cone. This was repaired.

Gym

Cleaned and oiled the Chain on the Rower.

Added Air to the Speedbag.

Replaced motor brushes on Small Treadmill.

Reefer

Stapler would not function. Found a lot of water and debris in it. This was cleaned out and oil added. Failed again a few days later. It was disassembled again. Found a lot of rust in the piston. This was all cleaned out and the O-Rings were cleaned and oiled. Placed back in service.
