  • Oct 14, 2021 EIVA NaviPac and Helmsman Testing: Outstanding issues

    1. Ran NaviPac in data logging mode overnight. Lost Custom logging file some time, only the General and Survey files were saved.

    2. To set NaviPac Online, click start and log in as dev user TWICE

    3. Helmsman: Units selected under Settings > Project Settings do not always stick (e.g. runline distance is in metric, even if nautical mile is selected). However, the unit in the Data views can/may be changed by simply clicking on the specific parameter/subnode and changing the unit in the Property window.

    4. Have to make sense on what the displayed ETA value for Range-Bearing to a waypoint data window.

    1. Do not set to power level 4 (hardware powers down). E-mailed support at Knudsen for guidance. Might be related to the issues we saw in Bathy when the power was increased (loss of signal).

    2. Might need to start formulating a plan

      1. Relocate Knudsen hardware to the network closet in the gym and run a much shorter cable from Thyrig to the closet? Should help with possible signal degradation.

      2. dome maintenance during a dry dock?

    3. Grounded the echo sounder receiver to the PC

  • Dec 5, 2020 EchoSIM test of 3.5 kHz array.

  • Nov 28, 2020 Towfish magnetomer was deployed. Constant errors that SYNC was lost and there was a loss of communications with the towfish. Nov 29, 2020 We decided to bring in the cable/towfish around 04h00. The cable was still twisted near the end but the last 50 m or so the cable became limp in the water. We were sure that the towfish was gone. But it appeared in our view and was successfully brought onboard. The last 50 - 60 m appears to have completely lost tensile strength with its protective shielding. We are pretty sure that if left out in the water it would have snapped and the towfish would have been lost. We cut-off 72.54 m of cable and are in the process of re-terminating Nov 29, 2020. After re-termination and two deployments, the signal remains very steady, voltage in steady @ 47.9 V. First deployment, 12 wraps (~ 23 m) were left on the drum which will give a length of ~ 404 m deployed. The second deployment, 6 wraps (~ 12 m) were left on the drum which gives a length of ~ 415 m deployed. I would not leave less than six wraps on the drum.

  • Oct 15, 2020 COM ports for RS232/USB NI interface needed to be reassigned.

  • In Winfrog, the forward Trimble connection turns red every 6-12 hours. We are able to turn it back to green by opening the Edit I/O, change the communication from "call" to "listen", close the Edit I/O, re-open it and change "listen" back to "call". It seems to wake the communication up? X378T

  • VSP Hose bundle - The red colored lead has no conductivity as of 368X.  Schlumberger does not use the time breaks on the guns so didn't need it.
