DEMOB/ iGCR: ASC Scientific Thermal Demagnetizer (TD-48 SC)
The ASC Scientific Thermal Demagnetizer (TD-48 SC) is mounted above the D-tech 2000 and has a single rack control unit.Â
The unit powers on a non-standard 110V/30A plug (photo below).
Â
Main Instrument
The main unit is the oven containing a blower unit (for convection heating and a separate cool-down/evacuation fan), the sample tray, a control unit, and a laptop instrument host.

Computer Host
None
Â
Connectivity
The connections are the following:
110V/30A power with twist lock plug.
The thermocouple in the sample tray to the control unit.
The thermal couplers in the oven and the heater element all connected to the control unit
The blower fans cable connected to the control unit.
The heavy gauge power connection (110v/30A) with twist lock plug |
Â
The thermocouple in the sample tray to the control unit. |
Â
The control units power, various fuses, thermocouples leads, and heating elements (note: these are all hardwired to the unit, hopefully the can be easy disconnected from the oven unit when disassembled. |
Â
The fan actuator lead connecting to the control unit. One fan is in constant using during heating for convection and a second, large blower is used when heating is complete for evacuation and cooling. |
Â
Â
Accessories
The main accessories are the sample holder with the quartz boat and spares, the thermocouple plug and all of the unit's connecting cables. Tag numbers and such list above in the primary table.
Â
The sample tray with quartz boat inserted and a spare quartz boat (stored in short D-tubes). |
Â
Custom crate will be made for the main oven unit and all spare quartz boats will fit in securely as well. Assuming that we can easily detach the control unit, it will ship separately with other rack control units in a yellow box.
***The small convection fan will likely need to be removed for safe packing.
